The upcoming season 4 of History Channel's periodical drama, "Vikings," will be full of conflict between Rollo (Clive Standen) and Ragnar Lothbrok's (Travis Fimmel) families.
Having successfully travelled to Paris, Rollo remained behind a fixed matrimony with Gisla, Emperor Charles's daughter. However, Ragnar was badly wounded and his son Bjorn Lothbrok (Alexander Ludwig) may wage a war because of Rollo betraying his father - siding with France to attain royalty and power.
According to Zap2it, Ludwig previously mentioned that his character, Bjorn, loves his uncle but his betrayal has shaken their relationship.
Ludwig said, "He's so hurt and he's going to kill him. In his eyes, there's certain things you can't forgive. Bjorn is so straight-edge in that when he makes a decision, he sticks to it."
According to Variety, showrunner Michael Hirst unveiled that the consequences of Rollo's betrayal will be fatal. The betrayal is the second and bigger than the previous one. Hirst reveals that Rollo has been promised a big land, a title, bride, and everything to the extent that he cannot fail to make it work.
Hirst added, "He's going to want to prove that this is what the gods meant."
With Ragnar recuperating from his physical wounds in the previous siege, some expect that he may give up his throne and on the authority to Bjorn his rightful heir since he is the Prince of Denmark and the first born son.
However, the succession may face controversies as Bjorn's brothers try to claim power in Kattegat for their own. Ivar the Boneless will most likely retaliate despite being Ragnar's fourth son from Princess Aslaug, the second wife.
The show will be releasing a companion Vikings book on Nov. 10 to help viewers understand the plot of the next season. The book has behind-the-scene narratives of the characters and the real culture, religion, and history of the Norse.
