Robsten fans were disappointed as the highly anticipated reunion between "Twilight" stars and ex- lovers Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson at the Venice Film Festival did not happen.
Pattinson was scheduled to attend the 72nd edition of the festival for the screening of directorial debut for actor Brady Corbet "The Childhood of a Leader." The film was screened on Sept. 5 and 6.
But he did not appear at the screening with the reason that he is busy shooting "The Lost City of Z" in Ireland. Reportedly Pattinson skipped the Festival to avoid bumping into ex-beau.
According to reports, Pattinson never intended on attending in order to avoid Stewart. She was at the festival on Saturday to promote "Equals" with Nicholas Hoult.
"He didn't want the story to be all about how he and Kristen were nearly bumping into each other. Venice is very small...and there are only so many parties and hotels," said a source on Page Six.
"American Ultra" star was at the festival to promote "Equals," walking the red carpet in a chic Chanel gown alongside co-star Hoult. Along with Hoult and director Drake Doremus, she also attended a special dinner at the Hotel Danieli.
Stewart, 25, left Italy on Sept. 6, Sunday, after the premiere of her new film "Equals." After the screening, the actress attended a press conference for the film during which Stewart discussed her experience making the movie, an ultramodern romantic tale set in an emotionless world.
"I was nervous going into the movie because of how simple it is and overtly emotional. I'm 25. I've been through some stuff and I knew it was going to be painful and I knew if I didn't do it right I would have hated myself," Stewart said as reported by Deadline.
Stewart also took some time to greet her fans. Some fortunate fans have been able to get some selfies with the star while departing the Venice Film Festival.
"Equals" is scheduled to have its North American premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival later this month. According to Variety, the rights to the film in the UK, France, Italy, and more have already been sold.
