Unlocked smartphones are slowly becoming the trend in the United States market and the latest to join the foray is Blu Products which recently announced its 6-inch Pure XL smartphone which will soon find its way into the market.
As an unlocked device, the Blue Pure XL is compatible with both T-Mobile and AT&T's 4G LTE networks, according to CNet. The smartphone will be sold directly to consumers without the usual two-year binding contract.
The Pure XL is considered as a premium device based on its specs but still retains a budget-friendly price tag. This easily puts the device as rival to the Motorola Moto X Pure Edition and OnePlus 2 smartphones. These powerful smartphones are considered as an affordable alternative to high-end devices such as the Samsung Galaxy S6 and iPhone 6 which could easily fetch an unlocked price of at least $600.
The Blu Pure XL will fetch a retail price of $350 when released. The smartphone runs on the Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system and has 6-inch screen with 2560 x 1440 resolution. The device is powered by a 64-bit MediaTek Helio X10 octa-core 2.0GHz processor and boasts a 3500mAh battery pack with quick charging features.
The Pure XL also packs a 24-megapixel rear facing main camera and an 8-megapixel wide-angle front facing camera. Although the phone lacks storage expansion via a microSD slot, the 64GB built-in storage space is sufficient enough for casual users. The Blu Pure XL also boasts a fingerprint scanner which puts it in par with some of the latest smartphones on the market, according to Engadget.
The device is scheduled to be launched on Sept. 29 and will be available in two color variants; gold and gray.
