Guillermo del Toro's upcoming action sci-fi film "Pacific Rim: Maelstorm" will delay its production.
Sources told Latino Review that while del Toro's forthcoming film has secured a slot in 2017, production will be moved next year from a November schedule. There are no known reasons behind the change in the production date and Legendary Pictures, the studio that will distribute the film, has not comment at this point.
The range and the magnitude of the film production are going to be substantial, since the film's release will take place two years from now, as per Cinema Blend. The publication added that while the production team and the studio could stick with the set date of release, it would be benign to reschedule the final release date.
"Pacific Rim: Maelstorm" stands as a follow-up film to del Torro's "Pacific Rim" and it centers on a realm that starts to deal with the idea that enormous monstrous creatures attack them. The film also shows that such events no longer pose a huge threat to mankind. Also, the film sequel will see what has happened to the characters who survived in "Pacific Rim."
With del Toro set to helm the film, Charlie Hunnam, Ron Perlman, and Rinko Kikuchi are set to reprise their roles in the film as Raleigh Beckett, Hannibal Chau, and Mako Mori, respectively, among others. Travis Beacham and Zack Penn are on board to pen the film screenplay.
Directed by del Toro, "Pacific Rim: Maelstorm" is slated to premiere on Aug. 4, 2017.
