"Terminator Genisys" actor J.K. Simmons has teased that he will be on board for "Terminator 6."
Simmons played O'Brien in Alan Taylor's action sci-fi film "Terminator Genisys." In his interview with Zap2It, the actor said that his character O'Brien was a fun character to explore. He also mentioned that he was looking forward to see more of his character in the next Terminator film.
O'Brien was initially a beat cop from the Los Angeles Police Department and a current detective in the San Francisco Police department. He was presumably one of the police officers who hunted Kyle Reese in the department store, but failed in arresting the latter.
While Simmons expressed his interest and excitement for a sixth installment of the "Terminator" film franchise, it may not happen soon. In his recent interview with Screen Rant, the actor said that he and the production team were hopeful to have more "Terminator" films, but there was no goal signal yet.
Aside from his role in Taylor's "Terminator Genisys," Simmons is also known for his roles in Sam Raimi's "Spider-Man" and Damien Chazelle's "Whiplash." He has a number of upcoming projects this year and next year, including Alessandro Carloni and Jennifer Yuh's animated film "Kung Fu Panda 3," Gavin O'Connor's drama film "The Accountant," and Lorene Scafaria's comedy drama "The Meddler," among others.
Released on July 1, "Terminator Genisys" centers on John Connor sending Reese back to 1984 to safeguard Sarah Connor and the future; however, his move backfires and alters the entire timeline. Aside from Simmons, the film stars Courtney Vance, Matt Smith, Dao Okeniyi, Jai Courtney, Emilia Clarke, Jason Clarke, and Arnold Swarzenegger.
While Paramount previously announced that there would be "Terminator 6" and "Terminator 7," exact details on their production and official release dates are yet to be confirmed.
