Joachim Ronning and Espen Sandberg's "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales" seems to go back from its very beginning.
In her interview with Digital Spy to promote Wes Ball's upcoming novel-inspired film "Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials," Kaya Scodelario said that the fifth installment of the "Pirates of the Caribbean" franchise shares similar elements from the first film. She also mentioned that these shared elements were parts of the producers' plans on establishing new storylines.
According to Cinema Blend, making Ronning and Sanberg's "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales" parallel to Gore Verbinski's first installment "Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl" entails that the former will also hold the simplicity of the latter. When it comes to action and the storyline, the upcoming film will revert to an uncomplicated state, in contrary to its predecessors.
"Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales" centers on Jack Sparrow embark his quest to find the trident of Poseidon, the Greek god of the seas. Aside from Scodelario, the film stars Jessica Green, Stephen Graham, David Wenham, Geoffrey Rush, Javier Bardem, Brenton Thwaites, Orlando Bloom, and Johnny Depp.
Meanwhile, Scodelario played Teresa in Ball's "The Maze Runner" and is set to reprise her role in the sequel "Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials." Aside from "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales," the actress is also set to appear in Sean McNamara's action adventure film "The Moon and the Sun."
Directed by Ronning and Sanberg, "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales" is slated to premiere in theaters in the United States on July 7, 2017 while Ball's "Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials" is set to hit theaters on Sept. 18.
