Bobby Flay and Giada de Laurentiis are eager to make their relationship public. The Food Network chef allegedly could not wait for her divorce with Todd Thompson to get finalized to be with her new beau.
After 11 years of marriage, de Laurentiis and Thompson decided to end their marriage in December 2014. After months of negotiations, the two have reportedly finalized the terms of the divorce settlement, according to People.
Since the former couple did not sign a prenuptial agreement, Thompson will get half of everything that de Laurentiis owns, including 50% of royalties for cookbooks she has in the works amounting to more than $5 million. It was also reported that they will be dividing various bank accounts worth $2 million.
The celebrity chef also agreed to give her husband $9,000 a month for child support. They will share joint custody of their 7-year-old daughter Jade Marie.
According to Youth Health Mag, fans were wondering why de Laurentiis has agreed to pay so much money given that Thompson's business is also worth millions. De Laurentiis and Thompson's assets are reportedly close in value, causing many to speculate that de Laurentiis was actually "buying" her husband's silence.
The outlet claimed that the real reason for the split was de Laurentiis' infidelity. Just before she filed for a divorce, she was spotted getting intimate with Flay. On multiple occasions, the two were seen going for cozy dinners and drinks.
De Laurentiis allegedly agreed to just pay the huge amount so Thompson will not spill the beans on her.
