After the brief hiatus, Fox is set to return with "The Last Man On Earth" season 2 on Sept. 27 at 9:30 p.m. The promos of the second season are already out which shows Phil (Will Forte) and Carol (Kristen Schaal) lounging around in White House while paying a visit to the latter's old home.
The premier series followed the life event of Phil as he discovers that he is the last surviving man, at least in the U.S., following a viral epidemic. After months of praying and living in solitude, he discovers a woman companion Carol.
The first season of the show was met with a great response. In fact, Fox's survivalist comedy received three Emmy nominations this year, including one for the outstanding lead actor and another for outstanding writing for a comedy series, according to Emmys.
The season 1 ended with Phil being booted from his house by Carol for almost leaving Todd alone in the desert to die. Later she had taken pity on her ex-husband-turned-boyfriend and together they had embarked on a journey.
"The Last Man On Earth" season 2 will follow the pair as they move from Tucson to Washington, D.C. The pair set up their new home in now-deserted White House where Phil gets down to his trademark destructive shenanigans like playing hockey in the Oval Office.
It also appears from the promos that Carol takes Phil to her old home where he got a sneak peek in her hilariously kooky past.

Recent reports stated that the post-apocalyptic comedy will introduce a new character this season in the form of Phil's brother, reported The Hollywood Reporter. Forte's former "Saturday Night Live" co-star Jason Sudeikis is likely to play the role of another survivor, Matt, who is an astronaut and was in space when a mysterious virus wiped out the continent, leaving Phil and Carol to wander alone.
Sudeikis is likely to make his appearance during "The Last Man On Earth" season 2 premier episode that will be aired on Sept. 27 at 9:30 pm on Fox.
