LG G3 may skip the Android Lollipop 5.1.1 upgrade as LG is planning to equip the device with Android Marshmallow.
The carriers AT&T, Sprint, Verizon, and US Cellular are all preparing to receive the Android Marshmallow for LG G3 when it releases in October.
Android Marshmallow is expected to be released along with Google Nexus 5 2015. The operating system will be released as an over-the-air upgrade and in stages. This will mean that different devices will receive it at different times. The size of the upgrade is yet to be disclosed. To check for this upgrade, go to Settings > About device > software version.
Otherwise, the upgrade will be prompted automatically also as and when it comes to the device. The new features that will come with this upgrade are as follows:
- Emergency calls will automatically appear with the nearest contact center and also take in account the current location.
- The new API level 23 will introduce support to finger print scanner and it will also bring better error reporting for the device.
- The enumeration support will be enhanced.
- The app permission behaviors and controls will be enhanced.
- The home screen will now be rotatable.
- The new app drawer will remove the alphabetical divider, making the device faster.
- Status bar icons will now be personalized.
The upgrade will also sport a RAM manager, network reset options, a personalized Chrome tab, according to GSM Arena.
It will also provide support for Android Pay and also the USB Type-C connection slot, according to BGR.
