An awkward situation crept into an interview panel with Tom Hardy at the Toronto International Film Festival over the weekend when the actor was promoting his latest film "Legend." Hardy was quick to shut down a reporter who said his sexuality remained "ambiguous."
The "Locke" actor was fielding questions and was left puzzled when a journalist attempted to draw contrast between his on-screen character who is open about his sexuality as a pose to the actor in real life, according to the Daily Mail.
The 37-year-old actor took a minute to process the question and then dismissed it, according to the publication much like his on-screen alter-egos Reginald and Ronald Kray.
The reporter who has been identified as Graeme Coleman from Daily Xtra which is a LGBT website asked the "The Dark Knight Rises" star if he found it "hard for celebrities to talk to media about their sexuality?"
Hardy paused for a moment before asking Coleman "What are you on about?" amidst the gathering at the venue erupting into laughter, the reporter interjected saying he was referring to comments the actor had made during an interview to a publication in 2008.
Trying to understand what the reporter was getting at Hardy asks the reporter "'Are you asking me about my sexuality?" with the reporter replying in the positive, Hardy replies back "why?" and then when no answer is forthcoming from the journalist, Hardy implies the question is closed with a cold "thank you."
Meanwhile, according to News.com.au, Hardy and his wife Charlotte Riley who were introduced on the set of "Wuthering Heights" are said to be expecting their first child having wed in a secret ceremony in July last year.
The "Mad Max: Fury Road" actor is also father to Louis Thomas 7, from a previous marriage which ended in 2004.
