"South Park" season 19 premiered on Comedy Central on Sept. 16, Wednesday, with an episode featuring the boys' take on Caitlyn Jenner, previously named Bruce Jenner. A month prior to the season premiere, "South Park" creator Trey Parker gave some spoilers.
When asked by Entertainment Weekly in August if the perspective keep shifting to older characters in "South Park" season 19, Parker joked, "Expect a lot of Stan's Grandpa in season 19."
According to Parker, he was Stan and Cartman was the bad voice in his head while his "South Park" co-creator Matt Stone was Kyle when the Comedy Central show started. He said he just most related to Stan and Cartman.
About the "South Park" creators' evolution, which can be tracked by looking at how much more the Comedy Central show has featured Stan's father, Randy, Parker said, "It started becoming the Randy show. We dialed it back a bit."
Parker also noted that everything is "just so much faster now" that everyone can take to social media to post their quick reactions to topical issues.
"South Park" season 18 started with the boys creating a start-up and cast a perplexed eye on the video-game commentary culture. Parker said the entire season was about tech, including Oculus Rift, including Über, and the Freemium games' predatory capitalism.
"We can't keep up anymore," Parker said about having a running theme for every show.
Meanwhile, as it always does, it is expected that "South Park" will offend several viewers with its season 19 premiere episode mentioning Caitlyn, who filed paperwork with the Superior Court of California on Sept. 15, Tuesday, to make her name and gender change official, CNN reported.
