One of the highlights of "The Voice" season 9 premiere was Jordan Smith's performance of "Chandelier" by Sia during the blind auditions. It was so good it earned a quadruple chair turn and standing ovation from the four coaches Blake Shelton, Adam Levine, Pharrell Williams and Gwen Stefani.
It was Shelton who turned around first followed by Stefani and Williams who almost simultaneously pushed their buttons. It took Levine some time before he decided to push his button.
Right after Smith's performance of "Chandelier," which was also welcomed with loud cheers from the audience, Stefani rushed to the stage and hugged him. On the other hand, after a dramatic cut to commercial, he decided to choose the Maroon 5 frontman as his coach.
Smith was the sixth to perform during the blind auditions of "The Voice" season 9 premiere. The first one to audition was Mark Hood, who performed "Use Me" by Bill Withers. Like Smith, Hood got a quadruple chair turn and he chose Williams to be his coach.
After Hood, Kota Wade sang "Bring It on Home to Me" by Cyndi Lauper and picked Stefani as her coach. Keith Semple sand "I'll Be There for You" by Bon Jovi and picked Levine as his coach.
After Semple, Alyssa Sheridan sang "I Will Remember" by Sarah McLachlan but failed to make any of the coaches turn. She was followed by Siahna Im who sang "Fever" and picked Williams as her coach over Stefani and Shelton.
"The Voice" season 9 premiered on NBC on Sept. 21 with the season 8 coaches returning to their chairs. Prior to this, two of them, Shelton and Stefani, made headlines after announcing their divorce with their respective spouses Miranda Lambert and Gavin Rossdale.
