Electronic Arts announced the beta version of "Star Wars Battlefront," which will be available to the public on Oct. 8.
The American video game developer and publisher announced that the front beta will allow players to try the 40-player Walker Assault on Hoth, where players can join the Rebels to fend off an Imperial assault, or side with the Imperial effort to bring law and order to the land.
Players can also try a Survival mission, a solo or two-player co-op battle against overwhelming odds, and the new 8v8 Drop Zone gametype that allows Star Wars players to go someplace aside from Tattoine, Hoth, or Wookie Treehouseland.
The beta will offer players three different game modes and access to the web-based Star Wars Battlefront Companion. It will include the strategic card game Base Command plus game stats, customization options, and unlockable Star Cards, weapons, and other pieces of in-game equipment, according to PC Gamer.
Gameplay progress, achievements, characters, character data, and other value or status indicators from the beta will not be part of the full game. EA Games warned that players may encounter some errors or defects. The download beta weighs in at around 11GB, so players need to allot a little space for the game.
"Star Wars Battlefront" open beta will run for five days, from Oct. 8 and until Oct. 12. It will officially launch on Nov. 17 and one month ahead of the date for front beta is a good decision to test the game in full scale. Xbox One owners with an EA Access membership will be able to play Battlefront first because it will be available via subscription program five days earlier, Gamespot reported.
