Kim Kardashian took to Twitter to talk about Pope Francis' presence in the United States, but the reaction did not turn out as expected.
"The pope is dope," Kardashian tweeted on Sept. 24, Thursday, which got the attention of Argentina's Catholics who were irritated by the tweet's message.
After Kardashian made the tweet, it was interpreted by an Argentinian news website, Primicias YA, after which Argentina's catholic population allegedly re-joined unenthusiastically in the matter.
The news website mistranslated the tweet as "the pope is drugs." The headline reads, "Did Kim Kardashian attack the pope?" The report stated that the pope had found an enemy in the U.S.
The writer continued reminding the readers of former Kardashian's sex scandal where she was featured in a sex tape before explaining more in the article of what Kardashian insinuated by posting the particular tweet, The Guardian reported.
The results were confusion in Argentina's public with more Catholics reacting negatively to Kardashian's tweet.
Kardashian incurred the wrath of the enraged Argentina's Catholics who claimed that the thoughts she shared about the pope were disrespectful.
Previously, #popeisdope, #rockstarpope and #catholicswag hashtags were trending on Twitter since the pope ensued with his tour in U.S. It seemed like Kardashian only riffed the first one and then posted it on tweeter.
Despite many Catholics who took Kardashian's tweet negatively, some commenters on the post have gone ahead to protect her by posting positive meanings of "dope." Meanwhile, Kardashian's tweet has been retweeted over 12,000 times.
