"The Martian" actor Matt Damon has revealed the superhero he wanted to play.
In an interview with New York Daily News, Damon said that he had considered playing the titular superhero Daredevil in Mark Steven Johnson's 2003 film of the same name. The actor mentioned that if the "The Dark Knight" director Christopher Nolan had come up to him and had asked him to play Daredevil, he would be in.
Nolan directing a "Daredevil" film at one point in the future is interesting, but the probability of seeing it happen is close to zero, as per Cinema Blend. According to the publication, Nolan is attached to Warner Bros., which entirely caters DC Comics characters.
Director Nolan is known for his work, including "The Dark Knight," "The Dark Knight Rises," the action mystery "Inception," and sci-fi drama "Interstellar." The filmmaker is set to pen the screenplay of an untitled project in 2017.
Created by writer-editor Stan Lee and artist Bill Everett, Daredevil has the human alter ego Matt Murdock and he is a lawyer-by-day and a crime fighter at night. Ben Affleck played the titular role in Johnson's "Daredevil" while Charlie Cox stars as Daredevil in Drew Goddard's television series of the same name.
Meanwhile, "The Martian" follows the astronaut Mark Watney as he gets stranded on Mars following a windstorm. The incident prompts the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) team to make a move to save Watney. The film stars Michael Peña, Sebastian Stan, Donald Glover, Mackenzie Davis, Sean Bean, Kristen Wiig, Kate Mara, Jessica Chastain, and Damon as Watney.
Ridley Scott is set to helm the film while Goddard is on board to pen the script of the film. Simon Kinberg, Aditya Sood, Mark Huffam, and Michael Schaefer are set to co-produce the film.
Directed by Scott, "The Martian" is slated to premiere in theaters in the United States on Oct. 2. Watch the trailer here:
