The release date of "How to Train Your Dragon 3" has been pushed to 2017. The third installment of the box office hit will reportedly stay faithful to Cressida Cowell's best selling series of the same name.
According to Ecumenical News, Hiccup (Jay Baruchel) and Toothless will be on opposing sides in the third movie. The publication claimed that humans and dragons will at war with both leading opposing teams. It was also said that Drago will be returning to seek revenge, which would put both Hiccup and Toothless in possible danger.
In an interview with Collider, director Dean DeBlois shared that the third movie may be the last film in the "How to Train your Dragon" franchise. He added that it will be more Toothless-centric compared to the other films. DeBlois shared that viewers will get to see "Hiccup's coming of age come to a completion."
As for the plot, DeBlois hinted that the third movie will finally answer what happened to the dragons and why they are no longer here. He promised that the third installment will be worth the wait.
"We continue to get more insight into the dragon world and shed light on their intelligence and all the aspects that we've been slowly cooking over the last two films," he said.
The third film is original slated for release this 2016 but DeBlois said that it was just too ambitious. He explained that animated movies usually take more than three years to make. He added that there was just too much to do from screenplay to animation to storyboarding.
