While "Person of Interest" season 5 will have only 13 episodes from the usual 22-23 episodes in previous seasons, the team behind the series is optimistic that fans will not be disappointed even as they hope for a renewal for the sixth installment.
Sharing through Indie Wire, actor Michael Emerson (Harold Finch) said that waiting to be chosen for season 5 was very distressing. He added that the show being aired by Netflix and WGN will likely make more people interested in the series.
Meanwhile, executive producer Greg Plageman explained to IGN that although they were initially surprised when they realized that the episode order for the new season had reduced, the team made the most of the 13 episodes. He also indicated his uncertainty as to whether season 5 will wrap up the series, but assured that fans will be intrigued by what is in store for the upcoming season.
Plageman teased on what will happen to Finch in season 5. He said, "I think we'd like to explore particularly this season is, what happens when someone, you know, is able to transfer some of that burden to others, but also when something so dramatic happens that there may become a shift in the character that we haven't seen before."
On the other hand, Finch shared details about the storyline of the upcoming season. He pointed out that Samaritan is now an obsession with him in addition to being more dangerous.
Finch said, "In a way, it's more dangerous than we can even portray on television, because the idea of what Samaritan is and how plausible it is, is hair-raising. I try to hold onto that idea that what they're up against is the end of humankind potentially. Those are high stakes."
In a statement in the recently held Comic Con, showrunner Jonathan Nolan said that they are proud of the accomplishments with the show so far. He said that he cannot tell what will happen later but in case season 5 is the last one in the series, no one will be disappointed with the storyline.
