After much speculation, it seems that Castle (Nathan Fillion) and Beckett (Stana Katic) are eventually heading for a divorce come season 8. Even before the premiere episode, multiple spoilers hinted that one of ABC's most popular couple is about to end their relationship for good.
Speaking to TV Line, "Castle" producers Terence Paul Winter and Alexi Hawley admitted that Castle and Beckett may have to spend time apart in the early part of the eight season. Fans of the series are definitely not happy with this decision. Winter and Hawley, however, remained hopeful that they will give this twist a chance.
Hawley explained that the short "break up" is only meant to bring Castle and Beckett closer together. He added that they only wanted to create more spark in the couple's relationship. He, however, admitted that there will be heartbreaks along the way, hinting that fans are up for one exciting and emotional journey.
On the other hand, Winter said that Castle and Beckett's brief separation paved the way for a more exciting storyline. He added that Fillion and Katic were both very excited about what is going to happen next.
The producers explained that fans of "Castle" should not be worried about their favorite couple. Hawley pointed out that Beckett actually left because she was worried that something may happen to Castle if he gets dragged into this.
According to Us Weekly, Castle and Beckett's separation is not the only big thing coming this season. Winter hinted that by the time they get to the fall finale, another surprise is coming the viewers' way.
