Android 6.0 Marshmallow upgrades for a range of smartphones will be released on October 5, and among the smartphone brands to benefit will be Sony Xperia Z, HTC, and Samsung.
In August, Sony informed its users that Google's most recent mobile operating system will be available to its Xperia Z smartphones soon, but it is yet to confirm exactly which models will benefit, according to The Christian Post.
TechRadar speculated that the Xperia Z3, Xperia Z3+, and Xperia Z3 Compact will receive the update, as well as the Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact and the Xperia Z4 Tablet.
Some lower-end Sony devices will also have access to the OS, like the Xperia M4 Aqua.
Older Sony devices may not support the new Android 6.0 Marshmallow; however, there has been speculation that those devices which received Android Lollipop will have the new OS included.
These include the Xperia Z1, Xperia Z1 Compact, the Xperia Z2, and Xperia Z.
Smartphones by HTC will also be able to receive Android Marshmallow updates.
These include the Desires 816, 820, and 826, the One M8 and the One M8 Eye, the Ones E8, E9, E9+ Butterfly 2, and E9+ Butterfly 3, as well as the One ME.
When they will receive the updates is still in question, however.
Either way, HTC's new One M9 and One M9+ will debut with the upgrade, and HTC's new Sense Version 7 software is designed with Android 6.0 Marshmallow firmly in mind.
Some Samsung Galaxy smartphones are also in the list for the upgrade.
The Galaxy S6, S6 edge and S6 edge+ stand in line, as do the Galaxy Alpha, Galaxy Notes 4 and 5.
Galaxy Note Edge and the Galaxy Tab A, along with the others, will see Android 6.0 Marshmallow early 2016.
