Jim Carrey's former girlfriend, who committed suicide after separating from him, was said to be involved with the Church of Scientology. A prominent journalist has claimed that she was taking classes at the controversial church's Hollywood Celebrity Centre before her apparent suicide.
Cathriona White was originally from Ireland and has shifted to Los Angeles to pursue a career as a makeup artist in 2009. Recent reports and Instagram feeds suggest that the 30-year-old was working on "Survival Rundown" course after successfully finishing "Purification Rundown" and often spoke about Scientology while on the job, claimed the prominent journalist Tony Ortega, Daily Mail reported.
Ortega further revealed that although White has got herself enrolled in "Purification Rundown" course, she has stalled the process for last six months, though, it is not clear whether she was having trouble dealing with it or she was just taking a break.
White was found dead at her home in California on Sept. 28, Monday, after an apparent drug overdose. A suicide note was found nearby that has reference to the "The Mask" actor whom she first started dating in 2012.
The former couple was last seen together at the Kayne Griffin Corcoran Gallery on September 10 at the opening reception of a new installation by artist Aaron Sandnes. The two looked quite close as they smiled generously while being deeply engrossed in a conversation.
Meanwhile, the Church of Scientology has dismissed the Ortega's revelation as as as "a sign of outright bigotry."
"Saying that somebody was studying Scientology in the past and connecting that to a suicide is like saying a person who had previously studied the Bible committed suicide," Karin Pouw, a spokesperson for the organization told People.
