Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has reportedly "decided against" permanently acquiring striker Radamel Falcao for the defending Premier League champions as he had not met the expectations of the Stamford Bridge giants so far in the season, as per Metro.
Last July, the Blues signed the 29-year-old forward for a season-long loan deal from Ligue 1 club AS Monaco in exchange for German central midfielder Mario Pašalić, which also included an option to retain him on a permanent basis at the end of the contract.
He debuted for the squad during their 0-1 loss to Arsenal in this year's Community Shield game at the Wembley Stadium where he was goalless after substituting for Loïc Rémy at the start of the second half.
His first appearance in the Premier League was during the team's opening day 2-2 draw with Swansea City where he only played the last six minutes of the match after replacing Willian.
Falcao then finally scored his first goal for Mourinho in their fourth game of the season, a 1-2 loss to Crystal Palace. So far, it was the Colombia international's only goal with Chelsea after six appearances in the domestic top-flight.
Mourinho's decision came in the aftermath of the Pensioners' shocking 1-3 defeat in the hands of Southampton at the Stamford Bridge last Saturday where the Santa Maria, Colombia native "provided very little threat" for the Blues, according to Bleacher Report.
It was also said that the former Manchester United loan player appeared "ineffective and a shadow of his former predatory self," which helped make Mourinho's choice easier.
