"Minority Report" may have only released its third episode but the TV show is allegedly about to get cancelled. Recent reports claim that FOX producers were disappointed with the series' ratings that they were thinking of pulling the plug this early.
Critics may not have high hopes for the sci-fi drama based on Steven Spielberg's film but many have not guessed that it will be cancelled just after one season. Cartermatt speculated that with a 0.9 rating in the 18-49 demographic, drawing in just 2.57 viewers, FOX will not be having second doubts about cancelling the series to make way for their new show, "Lucifer."
The publication further noted that its timeslot will be given to re-runs of either "Empire" and "Scream Queens." The new lineup which includes "Lucifer," "The X-Files," "Gotham" and "Luficfer" will reportedly be released after New Year.
"Minority Report" may be based from Spielberg's film but The New York Times pointed out that the two almost had nothing in common. It was said that the TV show almost felt like it came from an "alternative universe," one in which the original film was never made into production.
Although the producers have every right to deviate away from the movie's original plot, the publication held that the show was still "not good." They claimed that the pilot's storyline was week. The writers also reportedly had too much fun inventing gadgets for the future that they lost touch of what was important. Some critics were also not happy with the ubiquitous advertising.
