June 15 was a greatest day in the video-game life of many fans as it was the first time gamers beat Sephiroth and saved the planet. While the same day saw Square Enix announcing that there will be a remake of "Final Fantasy 7," there are a number of things that the developer should consider incorporating in or eliminating from the remake.
Since the announcement of a remake, there have been increased guesses on what should and what should not be included in the game. However, most of the speculations seem to come from those who had never played the game or non-enthusiasts.
There are some things that are universally wanted in the remake, including expanded chocobo breeding/racing, more games at the Gold Saucer, and the ability to maneuver through summons. However, a major thing that the developer should consider when creating a remake of "Final Fantasy 7" is tweaking the battle system.
Fans are already aware that the battle system will be overhauled in the remake. In case the graphics will be updated to make the game more realistic, then the previous battle system of turn-taking and queuing to attack will not be forthcoming. Remake director and original character designer Tetsuya Nomura already teased that the battle system would see "dramatic changes," according to Games Radar.
Fans of the game expect seeing a modified version of the FF12 or FF15 systems, where creatures interact in a true environment as opposed to random encounters, according to The Federalist. The developer should find a way to make sure that the gamer can control each member of the party.
Although Cloud is a great character, fans are used to customizing a battle through each character. The remake developer should find a way of switching between characters to avoid causing whiplash.
The FF12 gambit system as a way to incorporate the other players is good, but there is a need for more control. This may require tying the materia system to some sort of gambit system, although it would be ineffective to spend half an hour equipping materia and assigning characters specific roles before each battle.
The creator should maintain more whimsical monsters. It will be great to still fight Hell House and Heavy Tank and see the characters get turned into frogs.
