Facebook launched its long-awaited update on Messenger that syncs with iOS for Apple Watch on Oct. 8, Thursday. However, in order to get this update the Apple Watch should be running on watchOS2, the current version of Cupertino's software which actually manages to accommodate some of the features of the Messenger quite well.
According to Mashable, even though it is not possible to type in a complete reply to the messages, the watchOS2 will help user to send and receive stickers, voice clips, likes or even his current location. On the other hand, the Apple watch user who is on the receiving end can also have fun recieving voice messages, and watching pictures or videos.
Now, with the help of the new watch app, users will also be able to access the Facebook Messenger on their iPads listed under the multi-tasking apps, PC Magazine reported. In addition, latest update will also allow users to track down the chat history and the contacts listed in the Messenger using the search screen of the iPhone.
On the flip side, animated or GIF stickers are not supported by Facebook, instead they will appear as normal static stickers on the Apple watch App.
The watch app users already seem to be pleased with the new Facebook functionality, and one of the user reviews even goes to the extent to rate it a five star for as he found it extremely useful. He also added that it is one of the first third party applications that actually works while making it super easy to use the Facebook Messenger.
Good news is, that the watch app is also available for Android users and can sync with their Android wear. The Android Wear app which was launched in the first half of this year also offers recording and sending voice clips along with the ability to send "likes".
