Tech giant Apple removed the popular ad blocker app Been Choice on its App Store. Apple told the app's developers that its feature violates terms and conditions issued by the company.

Been Choice developer David Yoon told Mashable, "No other data from any other app was touched. We were explicit in our app and our website, and in our presentations to the press about what we were doing, and for what purpose, with what special safeguards."

The team behind Been Choice asked Apple whether block ads in its News app is accepted but did not receive any reply. Yoon and his team is planning to resubmit an amended version of the app on Oct. 16.

Been Choice is one of the most popular apps downloaded by users to remove ads from apps like Facebook, Google, Yahoo and Pinterest. Yoon said that the app's ad blocking features will remain the same and will only revise certain features for the four mentioned apps.

In a statement regarding the pull out of Been Choice on its digital store, Apple said that "a few" apps were removed because they installed their own root certificates, according to Tech Crunch. This practice raises some security concerns and forced Apple to make drastic actions in order to protect its users. Apple also said that it is working with developers of these removed apps in order amend their features and get it back into the App Store.

Been Choice is a powerful ad blocker that lets users take out ads in the Safari Browser. The app also gained popularity, and notoriety among advertisers, due to its feature that allows users to remove ads on mobile apps like Pandora, Facebook and even on Apple News app.
