Canon unveiled its new digital cameras, one from the EOS M family and two from the high performance PowerShot line.
The EOS M10 has a new interchangeable lens on a digital compact to appeal to the Social Media Generation, while the PowerShot G5 X and G9 X expand the choices for professional photographers on the go, SlashGear reported.
EOS M10 is designed as powerful camera with emphasis on its compact size and portability. The camera’s touch sensitive LCD screen can be tilted all the way up 180 degrees to make selfies easier. It features an 18.0 megapixel CMOS sensor paired with a DIGIC 6 image processor and is capable of 1080p video recording at 24 and 30 fps.
Also, the camera has both NFC and Wi-Fi capabilities for easy pairing, data transfer, and remote control using a smartphone or tablet. Other features and designs a swiveling LCD, pop-up flash and more low-key profile.
Canon is also adding two cameras on its G-Series lineup: the PowerShot G5 X and PowerShot G9 X, which are both designed for enthusiast shoppers who are in need of a fixed-lens camera.
Both new G cameras have a one-inch, 20.2 megapixel CMOS sensor combined with Canon's Digic 6 image processor. They're capable of shooting video up to 1080/60p, capture RAW and JPEG stills, and have an ISO range of 125-12,800. They would also feature WiFi and NFC connectivity for fast and easy sharing of photos to social media.
However, PowerShot G5 X has more high resolution 2.36 million dot OLED electronic viewfinder which allows users to still operate the camera in situations where the LCD screen is inappropriate or inaccessible. The camera has also a dedicated hot shoe for connecting accessories, like an EX-series Speedlite.
Meanwhile, the G9 X is a pocketable compact camera that has a f/2.0-4.9, 3x optical zoom lens. It also features a touchscreen, lens-mounted control ring, and a new user interface. It can take continuous shots at a rate of 6 fps.
EOS M10 comes in three different colors: black, white, and gray. PowerShot G5 X comes in classic black design, while PowerShot G9 X offers classic black or silver gray body with brown stitched leather accents.
EOS M10 sells at $599.99, while PowerShot G5 X and PowerShot G9 X costs $799.99 and $529.99 respectively. All cameras will be available starting on November, according to USA Today.
