Fans of "Fifty Shades of Grey" franchise may have to wait a bit longer before the final cast of "Fifty Shades Darker" is finalized. When James Foley was announced to replace Sam Taylor-Johnson as the director, many assumed that it is only a matter of time before filming begins.
In an interview with E! News, producer Dana Brunetti explained that there are a lot of things to be done before they start filming the highly anticipated sequel. He pointed out that they do not even have a casting director as of the moment.
Brunetti also finally put a stop to the casting rumors involving Henry Cavill, Ian Somerhalder and Theo James as Jack Hyde, Charlize Theron as Mrs. Robinson and Cara Delevingne as submissive Leila Williams. He pointed out that it was actually the fans who spread the "insane" rumors.
In other news, Movie Pilot held that fans of the E.L. James best selling book were unimpressed by the lack of raunchy scenes in the first movie. The outlet held that James did not allow Kelly Marcel to "properly adapt the script."
It was also said that the studio wanted the film to at least have an R rating rather than NC-17. They feared that making a film that would include more sex scenes between Jamie Dornan (Christian Grey) and Dakota Johnson (Anastasia Steele) would limit their film's audience.
If rumors of Dornan allegedly being offered $1 million to do a full frontal scene were true then the sequel will definitely have a NC-17 rating. The outlet held that the production was having a hard time finding out the right direction for the film, which could eventually cause more delay for its release date.
"Fifty Shades Darker" is expected to hit theaters February 2017.
