HTC One A9 arrives in the United States, but only the 32 GB version will be sold starting November, an HTC official said. HTC also announced through a live stream that the unlocked edition is now available for preorder at $399.
"The version of the HTC One A9 in the US is 3 GB RAM / 32 GB storage," HTC's Senior Global Online Communications Manager Jeff Gordon said on Twitter on Oct. 20. According to Phone Arena, the information was not disclosed during the official live stream. Tech fans had to ask Gordon on Twitter.
The tweet clarified that the 32 GB variant is the one offered at the promotional price of $399. HTC One A9's variants include 16 GB storage with 2 GB of RAM and the 32 GB bundled with 3 GB RAM, which are both featured in its US website.
However, the Taiwanese smartphone company did not say when the 16 GB variant will be available in the US or if it will be sold at all.
Meanwhile, the unlocked edition allows users to customize ROMs and select their preferred mobile service carrier. Although HTC One A9 is SIM-free, handsets will be available through different carriers, including AT&T, Sprint and Verizon on its global release first week of November, according to The Verge.
For now, unlocked units may be preordered through the website. A handset is expected to sell at a higher price after the special promo.
HTC One A9, seen by tech enthusiasts as an Apple iPhone 6 and 6 Plus copy, is also one of the first high-end smartphones to feature Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS.
