"Star Wars" actor Peter Serafinowicz has shared his thoughts on George Lucas' 1999 film "Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace."
Serafinowicz lent his voice for the Sith warrior Darth Maul in Lucas' film. In his interview with Richard Herring's Leicester Square Theatre Podcast (via Comedy), Serafinowicz said that the film reminded him of an old black and white movie in Channel 4 during the day and someone was in blackface.
The "Star Wars" actor added that the film had just been bought for eight pounds to show and nobody had checked it. For, the first "Star Wars" film had been like the most racist film in the 20th century.
Prior to Lucas' film "Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace," there were the "Star Wars" prequels, which showcased the origins of Darth Vader, according to Cinema Blend. Along with the CG aliens, the film also featured below average quality of the story and the dialogues, which disappointed movie fans, as per the publication.
Aside from "Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace," Serafinowicz is also known for being part of Edgar Wright's comedy horrow "Shaun of the Dead," James Gunn's "Guardians of the Galaxy," and the drama series "Hunt the Truth."
Meanwhile, the journey continues to the big screen in J.J. Abrams' forthcoming "Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens," set 30 years after the events in the "Return of Jedi." It stars an ensemble of both old and new heroes and villains played by Oscar Isaac, Hamill, Max von Sydow, Simon Pegg, Daisy Ridley, Domhnall Gleeson, John Boyega, Gwendoline Christie, Adam Driver, Carrie Fisher, and Harrison Ford, among others.
Abrams' "Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens" hits theaters on Dec. 18 while Gareth Edawrds's "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" premieres on Dec. 16, 2016. Meanwhile, Johnson's "Star Wars: Episode VIII" is slated to premiere in theaters on May 26, 2017 while Colin Trevorrow's "Star Wars: Episode IX" premieres in 2019.
