"Guardians of the Galaxy" actor Chris Pratt has revealed that he predicted his casting in Colin Trevorrow's dino-sequel film "Jurassic World."
Pratt played the role of raptor trainer Owen Grady in Trevorrow's film. In his interview with his director (via Cinema Blend), Pratt said that he joked his "Parks and Recreations" video that he would have to place "Jurassic Park" filmmaker Steven Spielberg on hold, as he had not been able to talk with the latter about a "Jurassic Park 4" film. During that time, no one knew that Pratt was about to become a big star.
It is assumed that Pratt has made his big break in his role as Peter Quill, also known Star-Lord, in James Gunn's Marvel Comics film "Guardians of the Galaxy" prior to being cast as Grady in Trevorrow's "Jurassic World," which is now regarded as this year's current top grossing film of all time with its estimated $1.67 billion worldwide gross.
Aside from his notable roles in "Guardians of the Galaxy" and "Jurassic World," Pratt is set to appear in Jon M. Chu's adventure fantasy film "Jem and the Holograms," Antoine Fuqua's action film "The Magnificent Seven," Morten Tyldum's adventure sci-fi "Passengers," Gunn's sequel "Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 2," and the upcoming "Jurassic World" sequel.
Trevorrow previously revealed in a "Jurassic World" podcast (via Coming Soon), that "Jurassic World 2" would not be about bigger and better dinosaurs, as fans saw in its predecessor. The filmmaker emphasized that the "Jurassic World" sequel will rise as a foundation on a much larger story about the relationship between man and the dinosaurs.
"Jurassic World 2" will be based on a line cited by Dr. Alan Grant, who was played by Sam Niell in Steven Spielberg's "Jurassic Park" in 1993. "Dinosaurs and man, separated by 65 million years of evolution have been thrown back into the mix together. How can we know what to expect?," Grant said in Spielberg's film.
With "Jurassic World 2" in its early stage of development, exact details on the plot, characters, and cast are yet to be revealed.
"Jurassic World 2" is slated to premiere in theaters in the United States on June 22, 2018.
