While the tension and excitement surrounding "The Blacklist" season 3 reduced a bit in episode three, the change in pace served a good purpose of emphasizing Raymond "Red" Reddington's (James Spader) message to the Cabal's director.
The change was a great twist to Harold Cooper (Harry Lennix) and Tom Keen's (Ryan Eggold) sit-down. However, the intensity seems to pick up again as Elizabeth "Liz" Keen (Megan Boone) and Red look for an almost mythical blacklister, "The Djinn," in episode 4.
Season 3 episode 3 titled "Eli Matchett" saw Red and Liz try out a more proactive strategy by taking down Verdiant and exposing its diabolical plan to destroy corn crops around the globe using a virus. The destruction could have made the Verdiant to be the sole distributor of a reportedly virus-resistant corn.
Red also utilized the chance to talk to Susan Hanover (Cindy Katz), the head of the company, and gave her a message, a warning, to the Cabal that he is coming for them. The scene was successful particularly because of Red's sincerity and composure; his talent easily made his warning to the Cabal one of the series' most significant lines.
Although that scene was sufficient to carry the entire episode, fans were also treated to a different gripping conflict between Cooper and Tom. In the scene, the ex-FBI head first outlined all of Tom's mistakes before giving him a task of hunting down "Karakurt" and looking for Liz.
Although Red, Cooper and Tom are dedicated to clear Liz's name, it appears that the former FBI profiler wants something different. She wants revenge against those who framed her. Therefore, Liz will be meeting a mysterious woman called "The Djinn" in the next episode.
Watch out for "The Blacklist" season 3 episode 4 on Oct. 22, today, to find out what happens during the meeting.
