Runkeeper has announced an all-new Apple Watch app that can be used without the phone and still track the user's various fitness activities.
With Runkeeper being a popular app for tracking workouts, the new Apple Watch app will enable users to keep track of the distance they have run and the time taken for the running, along with monitoring their pace and heart rate. Runkeeper will add other features to the app, including split times. Popular GPS fitness-tracking company supports the Cupertino's timepiece.
Runkeeper launch comes one month after Apple launched the WatchOS 2 for the Apple Watch. It promises to keep native apps that run entirely on the wrist. Runkeeper untether itself from the iPhone, with combination of Wi-Fi data (the Apple Watch uses both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth to transfer data) and the on-board M8 motion coprocessor, Venture Beat reported.
The accuracy will depend on factors such as location (region), as well as environmental considerations such as clouds and buildings. The accuracy will definitely improve over time whenever users.
The upcoming version of Runkeeper also provides post-run music analytics, to find out which songs pumped that will pumped up the user. This feature works with Spotify, iTunes, or Runkeeper DJ, according to PCMag. It gives a full rundown of the playlist and pace for each song after the run. Users can also see this info for their Runkeeper friends, so they can try running to songs they like.
Android users can already use Runkeeper with their Android Wear. Runkeeper for iOS is available in the App Store now with a price tag of $350.
