David S. Goyer, the man behind the "Man of Steel" script, is also the man behind the upcoming SyFy series "Krypton." The series will focus on stories we've never heard about before, stories that are set before the birth of Superman and naturally, long before the planet was destroyed.

When the show was first announced, we have little information to go by in terms of what to truly expect. It was only revealed that "Krypton" would be set in the past, and the lead character would be no other than Superman's grandfather. At the moment, we have no idea of what the writers are going to call him, or what is his role in society before his death.

However, now we have a slight idea because Goyer reveals in an interview with Collider that the story takes place 200-years before Man of Steel. This, from our perspective, puts the series in the same universe as Man of Steel and the broader DC Extended Universe.

If what Goyer is saying turns out to be the real deal, "Krypton" would be the first DC related TV series to take place in the same universe as the DC movies. We remember Warner Bros. stating the film and TV worlds will always be separate, so we have to wonder if David S. Goyer had made a mistake.

"Man of Steel" was a big budget film, so it should be interesting to see if Warner Bros. will implement some of the exciting aspects of "Krypton" from "Man of Steel" into the series. From the movie, fans got the chance to see Jor-El riding what appears to be a dragon-type creature. That is some serious CGI work, and we're wondering if we'll see anything on a similar scale when the series makes it to TV in 2016.

"Krypton" is expected to become the 8th DC related TV series should everything goes according to plan.
