Apple released three brand new celebrity ads on October 25, Sunday, featuring the three-point shooting skills of the world-champion Golden State Warriors' NBA Star Stephen Curry, and Academy Award-winning Hollywood actor Jamie Foxx. The A-listers are featured in spots showcasing the iPhone 6s camera and the tech giant's Siri personal assistant.
The two shorts feature Foxx using Apple's new hands-free "Hey Siri" tech feature to interact with the digital personal assistant. It is powered by the iPhone 6s' M9 motion coprocessor.
In the first video ad, "Flip a Coin," Foxx is carrying two scripts. He asks the iOS personal assistant to flip a coin to help him choose between the two documents, referring to a feature also available in previous "Hey Siri" versions.
"Crush" is the second short Apple ad. Foxx is tying a necktie while standing in front of a mirror and dresser. He asks Siri how he looks, and then gets a recorded yet friendly response from Siri that he is "fairly attractive." This ad highlights the ability of "Hey Siri" to process conversational interactions, according to Apple Insider.
The longer minute-long narrated commercial spotlights the iPhones' 12MP iSight camera and FaceTime HD camera. It lists some of the new-and-improved technical specs, such as 4K ultra-high definition (UHD) video recording, and slo-mo.
A big chunk of the video highlights other iPhone 6s features. They includes 3D Touch screens and new Live Photos feature.
Following his appearance in previous Apple smartphone and smartwatch ads, the new iPhone 6s commercial features short sequences starring the 2015 NBA MVP Steph Curry. In the clip he launches a three-point shot just beyond the arc. The footage shows Curry's long-range shooting skills and the slow-motion playback capability of the iPhone 6s, according to Mashable.
Apple's latest series of celebrity ads unveil its newest smartphone features. However, the tacit message to rival companies is that its tech innovations and sales figures are good enough to foot the bill for such celebrity endorsements.
