While the comedy musical franchise of "Pitch Perfect" is set to release a third instalment, other major actors of the first two films such as Elizabeth Banks will reportedly come back to not only act, but direct the next movie.
The 41-year-old actress previously produced, directed and starred in "Pitch Perfect 2," and she will direct the next installment as well as reprise her role as Gail Abernathy-McKadden. Banks will reportedly continue the story of Barden Bellas, including Becca and Fat Amy.
There are currently no official announcements regarding the third movie's plot especially with some of the Bellas graduating from College. However, Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson and even Brittany Snow are reported to have signed up to portray their characters once again and join the rest of the Bellas.
The actress turned director and producer will be seen in "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2" but will be focusing more on directing the acapella production. Banks stated that, "I'm really focused on putting this movie out and then letting the audience tell us what to do next." As reported by Entertainment Weekly.
Due to her direction in the previous film, Banks' efforts were marked "the best debut for a debut film director" and "Pitch Perfect 2" reached the second highest grossing opening for a female-directed and even female centered film, surpassing "Fifty Shades Of Grey" by Sam Taylor-Johnson.
The comedy musical franchise was adapted from the book "Pitch Perfect: The Quest for Collegiate A Capella Glory" by Mickey Rapkin, and the first film was a success due to cinema sales, including cable and DVD purchases.
"Pitch Perfect" earned a total of $ 115 million while its sequel "Pitch Perfect 2" reached $285 million worldwide. The box office hit franchise is already set to release "Pitch Perfect 3" on August 4, 2017 as reported by Cinema Blend.
