In a guest appearance on "Late Night With Seth Meyers", "The Voice" judge Blake Shelton openly expressed his nervousness for the coming Country Music Awards following his divorce from wife and country singer Miranda Lambert.
The 39-year-old split up with wife Lambert last July 20 and the former couple publicly announced their divorce after a four year marriage without children. Fresh out of the separation, Shelton is already acknowledging and preparing himself for the possibility that his co-host, Brad Paisley, would definitely make uncomfortable jokes about the divorce.
The "Honey Bee" singer also added that Host Paisley would not be doing his job if he did not make jokes as well. The two hosts have already discussed that Paisley would joke and remark on Shelton's separation.
"You have to address the elephant in the room. We've had the conversations like, 'Okay, dude. I'll sit there and let you kick me in the face a few times." said Shelton to Meyers on the late night show.
In addition to the recent split, this would also be the first time that Shelton and Lambert will not attend a show and walk on the red carpet together as a couple after eight years. The former couple has been going to the CMAs since 2007 and they have even accepted joint awards.
Both country singers have remained friendly towards one another in social media and the former couple are focusing on their careers with Shelton busy with "The Voice."
The singing competition recently introduced "FourFiveSeconds" singer Rihanna as a celebrity mentor, with Shelton confessing that he was deliberately flirting with the pop star. According to the 39-year-old judge, he and Rihanna are right for each other and even joked about couple names such as "Bihanna" and "Rake," as reported by Fox News.
While Shelton continues to catch the attention of the celebrity guest mentor, the Country Music Awards will be aired on Nov.4, Wednesday, as reported by US Weekly.
