South Korean tech giant Samsung recently took the wraps off its highly anticipated Galaxy View tablet. The device dwarfs every other tablet in the market, boasting a massive 18.5-inch screen.
Samsung first reveal the Galaxy View during the IFA Berlin conference where the company launched its Gear S2 smartwatch. On the event, Samsung hinted that it is working on an extra-large tablet and aims to unveil it before the end of the year.
Despite its massive size, many tech analysts consider the Galaxy View too large to be a tablet and too small to be a TV. However, Samsung said that "a tablet is just a 10-inch phone - this is different."
The Samsung Galaxy View is designed to be a streaming device. The massive screen is optimized for videos with 16:9 aspect ratio and full HD resolution at 1920 x 1080 pixels, according to CNet.
The Galaxy View is powered by the Samsung Exynos 7 octa-core processor clocked at 1.6GHz. It has an ARM Mali-T20 graphics processing chip and 2GB of onboard memory. The Galaxy View is available in two storage variants; 32GB and 64GB. Additionally, it also has a microSD slot that allow users to expand its storage space up to 128GB.
According to Digital Trends, Samsung is currently working with cable TV providers and several streaming companies in order to bundle the Galaxy View with some of their customer deals. Users who are subscribed to Time Warner Cable or Dish Network can link their View device with their cable subscription in order to stream live TV contents whenever they cannot access their TV.
