Americans have responded to the AlDub phenomenon after it took social networking site Twitter by storm. AlDub stands for the names of Filipino celebrities Alden Richards and Maine Mendoza, also known as Yaya Dub, who are featured in the Philippine TV show "Eat Bulaga."
In the "Brandstanding" segment of "Trending Business," iSentia Brandtology social media manager Ehden Llave Pelaez discussed with Bloomberg's Rishaad Salamat how the AlDub phenomenon became a mega hit on social media.
After this, sone staff members of Buzzfeed were asked to watch clips of the "Kalye Serye" segment of "Eat Bulaga," in which the AlDub couple are featured. They shared their thoughts about Richards and Yaya Dub after watching.
"This show is electric," one of them says of "Eat Bulaga" adding that he does know what is going on but it is like a "whirlwind of fun."
Another one tried to explain the behind AlDub, saying it is where "an unlikely couple go through an early stage of romance, that awkward phase of 'How do I communicate? Should I text? No wait, I'll send her a Dubsmash."
In addition, one of their final verdicts is that "Eat Bulaga" is coming to the United States. One of them also says, "Say goodbye to your 'Desperate Housewives' (and) 'Parks and Recreations.'"
"Desperate Housewives" is a comedy series that ran from 2004 to 2012 starring Teri Hatcher, Felicity Huffman, Marcia Cross, Eva Longoria, Ricardo Chavira, James Denton, Brendon Strong, Doug Savant, Nicollette Sheridan, Shawn Pyfrom and Andrea Bowen, among others.
