Dave Bautista has revealed that his character would be badass in James Gunn's forthcoming Marvel Comics film "Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 2."
Bautista is set to reprise his role as Drax the Destroyer in Gunn's upcoming "Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 2." In his interview with Cinema Blend to promote Sam Mendes' forthcoming James Bond film "Spectre," Bautista said that he knew Gunn was really going to focus on Drax being badass.
Bautista added that he was still not really going to get metaphors, even though he though he did, but he would still be that very literal Drax. For the actor, fans were going to see a lot more badass Drax.
According to Cinema Blend, Bautista had not directly made a word on how his character would avenge his wife and daughter's death against the Mad Titan Thanos; however, the actor hoped that the "Guardians of the Galaxy" storyline would tie in the "The Avengers" storyline. While he did not know the entire storyline, Bautista was hoping to go in a road with the Earth's Mightiest Heroes.
Gunn's take on his upcoming "Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 2" focuses on exploring deeper the characters, which will help fans see themselves in the characters. Gunn previously told Cinema Blend that the film sequel would not be seeing too many characters, since he wanted the characters in the first film to be personal.
Aside from Bautista, the film also stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Bradley Cooper (voice), Vin Diesel (voice), Sean Gunn, Karen Gillan, Michael Rooker, and possibly Howard the Duck, among others.
"Sicario" star Benicio del Toro is also set to reprise his role as The Collector while the director teased that there would be one Sneeper in the film. Klementieff was rumored to play Mantis in Gunn's forthcoming Marvel Comics film; however, neither Marvel Studios nor Gunn has confirmed if Klementieff would play the role.
Gunn's "Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 2" starts principal production in 2016 and is slated to premiere in theaters in United States on May 5, 2017. Meanwhile, Mendes' "Spectre" is now showing in theaters.
