Eddie Redmayne has revealed the reason why he had not asked Daniel Radcliffe for an advice on his role in David Yates' forthcoming fantasy film "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them."
Redmayne is set to play the role of English magizoologist Newt Scamander in Yates' upcoming film. In his interview with Cinema Blend, the actor said confirmed that he had not talked with Radcliffe. Redmayne said that he knew the "Harry Potter" actor a bit, but at some point, he should focus on making his film right first, and live up to what he had already done.
Although Redmayne had become successful with his Oscar-winning performances, it is assumed that there will be a sense of pressure on him and the people circling Yates' "Fantastic Beats and Where to Find Them." The film is also expected to be a new franchise, so the completion of the "Harry Potter" spin-off would be rewarding for Redmayne.
Set in 1926 New York, "Fantastic Beats and Where to Find Them" centers on the exploits of writer Scamander in the locale's underground community of witches and wizards. Aside from Redmayne, the film also stars Colin Farrell as Graves, Katherine Waterston as Propentina Goldstein, Dan Fogler as Jacob, Alison Sudol as Queenie, and Ezra Miller as Kredan, among others.
"Harry Potter" author J.K. Rowling also penned the source material, which will serve as guide for the film's story. However, exact plot details, additional characters, and cast are yet to be revealed.
"Fantastic Beats and Where to Find Them" is also the cover story of Entertainment Weekly this week. The publication mentioned that it would feature spoiler-free behind-the-scenes look at the film, along with interviews with producers and cast.
Yates' "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" is slated to premiere in theaters in United States on Nov. 18, 2016.
