After releasing their half album last month, iKON will be back with two new tracks entitled "Apology" and "Anthem".
It seems that YG Entertainment is focusing its resources to its new artist iKON and is confident that the two new tracks are better than what the new group has showed off so far in the group's half album.
iKON worked with YG's in-house producer and prime songwriter Teddy for the two tracks. "Teddy participated in making the two singles that iKON will be releasing soon. I think they are better than 'My Type'. I am satisfied with the music that Teddy and iKON produced together," said Yang Hyun Suk in YG-Life blog.
Previous teasers revealed that "Anthem" will feature members B.I. and Bobby. The lyrics were also written by the two rappers. This hinted that the song will be a rap song reminiscent of G-Dragon and Top tandem.
"Apology," on the other hand, will feature the seven members. YG claimed that the new song is better than "My Type".
YIBADA previously reported that despite iKON's immense popularity even their official debut, the group disappointed some fans, especially when they released teaser single "My Type" for the first time. Not all fans are happy and satisfied with the songs by the new YG group. Some fans expected that the group will debut with powerful hip-hop tracks that will match the members' superb dancing abilities. It seemed that better songs were heard during the survival programs.
While fans applauded the group, especially B.I. and Bobby, for writing and composing their own songs, we hoped that YG's veteran producers like Teddy and G-Dragon will gift the group with heart-stopping tracks.
Meanwhile, iKON is nominated for the Best Rookie Male Group at Mnet Asian Music Awards battling against new groups such as Monsta X and Seventeen.
