Manny Pacquiao was recently slammed by PBA commissioner Chito Narvasa for prioritizing basketball over boxing. The expert claimed that the athlete/politician may just be handling a lot on his plate, adding that he should concentrate on only one sport.
According to Gulf News, Narvasa hinted that Pacquiao's time in professional basketball may be over. The Filipino boxer was recently a no show at the PBA Philippine Cup games in Dubai, where he plays point guard for the Mahindra Enforcers, claiming that he was "feeling under the weather."
Explaining the situation, Narvasa said that fans and media must understand that Pacquiao is not only a basketball player but a boxer, as well. He also pointed out that the athlete had responsibilities as a Congressman and has recently announced his plans to run for Senator in the coming 2016 elections.
Narvasa, however, hoped that Pacquiao would soon find his one true passion in life.
"His many responsibilities prevent him going full-time into one activity, and the PBA understands the situation, but hopefully, eventually, he will be able to find out what he should be concentrating on very soon."
The commissioner also explained that they only have the team's best interest at heart. He admitted that if ever they found out that Pacquiao playing for the PBA brought more harm than good then it may be time to re-think his position.
This is not the first time that Pacquiao has been criticized for "shifting" from boxing to basketball. Daniel Orton, former Purefoods Star Hotshot centre, was recently fired for dissing the boxer's abilities on the court.
"Professional basketball player? No. It's a joke. Seriously, it's a joke," he said.
