"Call of Duty: Black Ops III" has earned a worldwide sales of $550 million in just three days, which puts it as Activision Blizzard's largest entertainment release in 2015.
Part of the 'Black Ops" franchise is managed by Treyarch studio. This latest title has broken the previous track record for the "Call of Duty" franchise, all thanks to thousands of fans who played online for over 75 million hours in just the first three days following its worldwide release. Sales have gained a significant increase within the last two years, while digital sales almost doubled against last year's.
Activision formerly bragged about the "Call of Duty: Black Ops II" generating overall sales of $500 million on its very first day after the game was released in 2012. This means that the third title to the franchise is not the top-selling Call of Duty game of all time. However, it is evident that Activision does have some substantial hit materials in their hands, reported VentureBeat.
Bobby Kotick, chief executive for Activision Blizzard, stated that "Call of Duty's millions of passionate fans have shown us, yet again, the strength of their commitment to this enduring franchise." Kotick also mentioned that "Call of Duty: Black Ops III is the biggest entertainment launch this year in any medium, and bigger than any theatrical opening weekend ever," as per VentureBeat.
Moreover, Activision Publishing also said that "Black Ops III" is the most awaited "Call of Duty" game than all the previously released games in the franchise. It is currently marked as the No. 1 most viewed and most streamed game in 2015.
