Tech giant Microsoft is doubling its effort to make its presence on the iOS and Android platform be felt. As part of this focus, the Redmond-based company recently launched an update for the Bing app on the iOS operating system.
The new update will allow iPhone users to easily access apps if they are using the Bing search app. The update will also help users by handing out information that are relevant to the users' search query.
Bing announced the new update via its official blog posting, "Today we are delight to announce the new Bing app that re-thinks search on your iPhone. We designed the app to bring together the information you need, connected to the apps your trust, to help you 'find' and 'do' faster and easier than ever before."
To be able to provide its users with a seamless search feature, Bing for iPhone presents data from Microsoft's Knowledge and Action Graph right out of search results. On top of this, Bing will also provide links that will direct users into the right app on their phone that will complete the desired action that they want to take.
The same idea is used by Google on its own Knowledge Graph. It is basically a massive database wherein the company can pull out relevant data based on users' search query.
Despite their similarities, Microsoft's Bing on iPhone has the upper hand in this aspect of search platform. By integrating search results within the iOS platform, users can get access to specific options that can be pulled out when they do a search. One cited example is the ability to directly open an app that is related to the search query, according to Engadget.
