The next flagship phone from Sony will reportedly not be announced six months immediately after the Xperia Z5 release which recently had a Premium 4K variant released to the public.
Following an interesting comment by Sony Art Director Rikke Gertsen Constein, people have started to talk about a possible Xperia Z6 release in the latter half of 2016.
While the Japanese multinational corporation has released flagship smartphones every six months, the comment made by Constein during a recent interview at Berlin IFA 2015 hints at a transition to a longer gap between releases, according to PC Advisor.
Constein stated that Sony has already been preparing for a future product set for launch the second half of 2016. Given this information, Sony could unveil the next Xperia flagship phone in September 2016 at the next IFA event.
Likewise, the art director's remark makes the possible September 2016 release of the Xperia Z6 likelier than a February 2016 launch during Mobile World Congress 2016.
If Sony unveils the next Xperia handset about a year since the Z5 release, the previous incident of Japan mistaking the Xperia Z3+ for an Xperia Z4 can be prevented. Aside from being wrongly labeled, the Xperia Z3+ was criticized for overheating problems and not having enough to distinguish the smartphone from the Xperia Z3 device.
Meanwhile, the conglomerate corporation has released the premium version of the current Xperia Z5 flagship phone, according to Tech Radar.
What sets the Xperia Z5 Premium apart from the original Xperia Z5 phone is that the former device has a bigger display size and a more efficient battery. The Xperia Z5 Premium also provides consumers the ability to see content through an astounding 4K resolution.
While the price may disappoint some potential buyers, the handset is a good choice for people who are looking for a phablet that can really deliver in terms of performance and design.
The Sony Xperia Z5 Premium costs about $640 while the goody bag is priced $16.
