Leaked photos show images of a new Apple support app, which would launch a Web-based support site for iOS devices including smartphones and tablets. The screenshots seem to show a full support app with the same functionality as the tech giant's support website, which provides features such as troubleshooting Apple devices, chatting with specialists, scheduling repairs, and making Genius Bar appointments.
The screenshots were first published by tech blog uSwitch.com, and later reported by Sonny Dickson, according to The Verge. Apple has not confirmed that the support app exists.
A support app would not just help to get Apple gadgets checked and repaired. It would also make it easier to learn how to use Apple devices.
Critics of Apple's support website argue that it can be hard as nails to navigate. It includes a blend of company support articles and online discussions about various versions of different products.
However, the Apple support app seems to be based on registered products included in a customer's Apple ID. That would make the search results more precise.
The app would work by asking the user questions. Based on the answers given, the Apple customer could then take steps such as contacting support staff, booking an appointment at an Apple Store's Genius Bar, or repairing the device by using how-to guides, according to Engadget.
Apple's iOS support might not be a standalone app. It could also be weaved into the current Apple Store app.
Today more and more people are using mobile devices. The Apple Store iOS app only allows users to set Genius Bar appointments, However, if full-service support is provided later it could reduce lines and wait times at Genius Bars.
