‘Guardians Of The Galaxy: Vol. 2’ Star Karen Gillan Talks Nebula, Gamora's Relationship

Karen Gillian has shared some details about what fans could expect from the blue-skinned cyborg Nebula in James Gunn's upcoming Marvel Comics film "Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 2."

Gillan played Nebula in Gunn's "Guardians of the Galaxy" and is set to reprise the role in the sequel "Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 2." In her interview with Comic Book Resources, Gillian explained that fans would be able to explore the connection between her character and her green-skinned sister Gamora (Zoe Saldana). She said that she was actually thrilled about exploring the "sisterly relationship" between Nebula and Gamora.

For Gillian, fans are set to see a bit more of the familial side of the two female characters that it was going to be a bit more fleshed out.

Nebula and Gamora's relationship in Gunn's "Guardians of the Galaxy" was already dysfunctional with the adopted daughters of the Mad Titan Thanos having both experienced the agony and shame from the supervillain when they were little, Cinema Blend noted. 

Nebula envied Gamora, since the latter was Thanos' favorite. The villain tried to see Gamora dead when she became part of the Guardians. 

Also, Nebula also fought Gamora in a battle on Xandar and she detached her cyborg hands to flee and fly away on a ship, instead of accepting her sister's help.

"Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 2" explores the characters in a way that fans see themselves in the character. Thus, the film sequel would not be seeing too many characters, as Gunn wanted the characters in the first film to be more personal.

Aside from Gillian and Saldana, the film also stars Chris Pratt, Dave Bautista,  Sean Gunn, Michael Rooker, Benicio del Toro and Pom Klementieff, among others. It also features Bradley Cooper and Vin Diesel's voices.

"Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 2" starts principal production in 2016 and is slated to premiere in theaters in United States on May 5, 2017.
