Pepsi Co will launch its own smartphone in China called Pepsi Phone P1.
Made by the Shenzhen Scooby Communication Equipment Co, the Pepsi Phone P1 looks similar to a rebadged Oppo R7 Plus. It is being a crowd-funded in China. The early bird price is $78, which is already sold out, followed by higher tiers of $110 and $150 with 1,000 units available each.
If the device successfully hits its funding goal of $46, 9950 on Dec. 3, it will officially launch at around $200 with a special FDD-LTE variant headed to China Unicom as the P1s, according to Engadget.
The handset is powered by octa-core MediaTek MT6592 processor clocked at 1.7GHz, paired with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage that can be expanded up to 64GB via a microSD card. It runs under the software called dido OS, which is based on Android 5.1 Lollipop.
Its aluminum uni-body houses a 5.5-inch 1080p display with 2.5D glass. Pepsi Phone P1 packs a 13MP primary camera with f/2.0 Samsung camera sensor with less-than-ideal 1.12 pixels and a 5MP front shooter for selfies. A non-removable 3000mAh battery powers the device.
The Pepsi Phone P1 is a dual SIM (both GSM) smartphone that accepts Micro-SIM and Nano-SIM. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, 3G, and 4G. The smartphone's sensors include Proximity sensor, Ambient light sensor, Accelerometer, and Gyroscope, according to Daily Mail Online.
It comes in Blue, Gold and Silver colors. It also comes with a protective cover, USB cable and a charger, and interested buyers can also select the color of the phone when ordering.
