Rosamund Pike, 36, is lending her voice to narrate Jane Austen’s classic “Pride & Prejudice” novel for Amazon’s audiobooks.
The English actress is providing her British accent for an Amazon audiobook version of the novel 10 years after starring in Focus Features' "Pride & Prejudice." She played Jane Bennet in Joe Wright's adaptation of Jane Austen's 19th century novel.
In an exclusive clip taken from chapter 3 of the book obtained by People, Mr. Darcy is described as looking at Elizabeth Bennet up and down critically during a ball.
Pike, whose performance in 20th Century Fox’s “Gone Girl” in 2014 was met with universal critical acclaim, has taken a back seat in her narrator role instead of reprising Jane Bennet in the audiobook as she did in the movie.
This is after she received several nominations, including an Academy Award and Golden Globe Award for Best Actress, and the BAFTA for Best Actress in a Leading Role for her portrayal of scheming Amy Elliott Dunne.
In the 2005 film "Pride & Prejudice," Pike starred opposite Kiera Knightley, Matthew Macfadyen, Donald Sutherland, Jena Malone, and Dame Judi Dench. The movie dealt with the issues of marriage and morality set in Regency England in the 19th century.
This is not Pike’s first voice role. According to the Daily Mail, she is currently voicing Lady Penelope Creighton-Ward in ITV Studios’ computer animated sci-fi TV series, “Thunderbirds Are Go” which premiered on April 4.
Amazon’s “Pride & Prejudice” audiobook is now available for preorder at Audible, and is expected to be released on Dec. 8.
