Michael Cavallari, brother of "The Hills" star Kristin Cavallari, was found dead on Dec. 10, Thursday, nearly two weeks after being reported missing.
Reacting to the dreadful news, the actress took to Instagram to share a heartfelt tribute to her late brother.
"My heart is in a million pieces," wrote the 28-year-old alongside a throwback pic of herself with her late brother from their childhood. "Mikey, I could always count on you to make me laugh. You had such a good heart and will be forever missed."
Michael, 30, was last seen the day after Thanksgiving. The concern of his safety was raised first when his car was found abandoned on a highway in Utah. A police search was soon launched to trace him after which his body was found in a steep and rocky area, E! News reported.
The body was transported to the medical examiner's office for official identification after which the exact cause of death can be determined.
Four days before his disappearance, Michael was reportedly arrested on Nov. 23 for making criminal threats in Dana Point. A loaded shotgun was found in his possession at the time of his arrest.
"Her brother was always a troubled kid and there was always drama with him," People quoted a source close to the actress' family who further added that despite his situation, she was very protective and supportive of him.
Michael once also dabbled to produce reality TV business but it did not work out.
